AML/CFT compliance in Argentina

We build, review and support AML/CFT programmes for Argentine reporting entities, with the perspective of professionals who worked inside the UIF.

What we do

  • UIF registrationWe register the reporting entity with the UIF and support the appointment of the compliance officer.
  • Procedures manualWe draft or update the manual under the UIF resolution that applies to your activity.
  • Risk matrixWe design the risk self-assessment and the matrix used to rate and segment each customer, with documented reasoning.
  • KYC files and due diligenceWe set up the customer onboarding process, simplified and enhanced due diligence, and PEP and sanctions-list screening.
  • Beneficial ownershipWe trace the ownership chain of companies and trusts up to the natural person.
  • Suspicious transactionsWe analyse unusual transactions and prepare the report, with the confidentiality the rules require.
  • TrainingWe train the compliance officer, senior management and staff, following the annual plan the rules require.
  • Independent external review (REI)We issue the special REI report on the prevention system required by UIF rules.
  • Requests and proceedingsWe support responses to UIF information requests and inspections, and the defence in administrative proceedings.

Independent external review (REI)

UIF rules require many Argentine reporting entities to have their AML/CFT prevention system reviewed by an independent external reviewer (Revisor Externo Independiente, REI). We issue the special REI report the rules call for.

  • We assess the procedures manual, the risk self-assessment and the risk matrix.
  • We review a sample of KYC files, transaction monitoring and reports filed with the UIF.
  • We check the training plan and the work of the compliance officer.
  • We set out our findings in writing, with an action plan to fix them.

The report is one of the documents the UIF reviews during its supervisions.

Our REI service is independent from our other services and is never provided together with them: we do not act as independent external reviewer of prevention programmes we have designed or implemented.
